History
L. Joseph Wheat, M.D. founded MiraVista Diagnostics and MiraBella Technologies in 2002. Both organizations focus on developing improved fungal diagnostic testing. For over two decades, Dr. Wheat served as a Professor of Medicine and Pathology at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, where his research yielded the Histoplasma antigen test. With MiraVista Diagnostics and MiraBella Technologies, Dr. Wheat continues to focus on the development of high-complexity tests coupled with same-day referral testing.
Vision
Our vision is to produce new tests in compliance with cGMP quality standards and to attain FDA clearance to distribute these tests to reference laboratories. To realize this vision, we have assembled highly specialized personnel, established a technology-driven environment, and made the commitment to seek FDA clearance of products that are appropriate for incorporation into large referral laboratory testing. At the same time, we continue to provide high quality, same-day testing services at MiraVista Diagnostics.
